Hi, welcome! My name is Jacqueline or J for short. I live in Monterey, CA with my husband, Mike aka cowboy and Jack Russell, Bam. I bartend on a golf course, but my real passions are health, wellness, living life & creating a community that believes that pizza & green juice can coexist.

Cowboy & I in SF December 2018

Some things I enjoy:

  • Hiking/outdoors
  • A long walk, listening to a good podcast
  • A hot cup of Earl Grey tea or a really good Cinnamon Chai tea
  • Natural herbs/supplements/foods
  • Laughing with/at my husband. He is the most hilarious person I know!
  • Holistic health/healing the body with Acupuncture, Functional & Western Medicine
  • Traveling, especially road trips & Disneyland {duh!}
  • A perfectly ripe honey mango, papaya & avocado
  • Pizza, but we already talked about that earlier
  • Living life on my terms
  • The simple things
  • Old school country music {none of this new age crap, give me Alan Jackson, George Strait, Brooks & Dunn}
  • The fresh produce section at the grocery store. If it wasn’t so cold, I could just walk around there forever.
  • A very clean & neatly organized home with lots of open space. Clutter gives me anxiety.
  • My favorite state {so far} is Utah. The red rock, dessert, Zion, St. George, Bryce Canyon…everything about it is so beautiful.
Meet Bam. He is 13, blind & nearly deaf but does not give AF because he has people to watch out for him

A little about my health history:

I have struggled with gut issues my entire life and found that Western Medicine was taking more of a band aid approach, rather than healing the body.

In November of 2016, after a round of antibiotics, I was the sickest I’d ever been for months, and knew I had to do something different, so I turned to Acupuncture & Functional Medicine and found a practitioner who is a perfect blend of both, Western and Functional Medicine. It was only then, we started digging into the root cause of my symptoms, instead of just treating them and I started to slowly feel better. I’m still a work in progress & happy to share it with you.

I am a big advocate for doing your own research and with that, I also loosely integrate some of the Medical Medium advice into my diet. While I’m not sure I believe in “Mediums,” I can say with 100% certainty, that after spending a lot of time with some of the worlds best GI Specialists in Stanford, without any answers, treatment or hope, his information helped turn my health around. I’ll write a more in depth post about this topic soon.

Woah we just dove right in on that one ha! Welcome to my brain ha!

My vision for this blog is to share about health & wellness as well as daily life, travel and other random stuff. That’s my plan, but I’m open to it going wherever it leads. I genuinely value your thoughts, so please feel free to drop me a message and let me know what you want to read about.
